Kathie Lee's Music

4/9/01 A message from Kathie Lee

Oh, the life of a gypsy! I’m writing to you all today from Los Angeles where I have come to do another guest starring role. This time I’m on the set of "The Drew Carey Show" and you can imagine how much fun it is to be surrounded by a cast headed up by Drew Carey and Kathy Kinney.

The only trouble is I’m again cast as the rich b----…there seems to be a pattern here. I’d better play a saint soon or people are going to start believing this is the only kind of role I can do!

Each set I visit the talk is the same, major concern regarding the impending writers and actors strike. I really feel for all these people behind the scenes who would really suffer if work has to stop. Again, it makes me grateful for the security I enjoy and for the options I have in my own career. Who knows, if TV and film production does shut down I just might take another chance on the Broadway stage or launch a new symphony tour? Or maybe even do something completely radical like NOTHING AT ALL!

In the meantime I cannot contain my excitement about my new kids CDs, "Party Animals" and "Goodnight Angel." David Friedman and I started writing these songs a year ago and I can’t describe the creative thrill it is to see all the hard work finally come together in finished form.

I am so hoping you are going to love these albums, especially because they are so deeply personal. Never before have I been so involved in all aspects of production—from writing to recording to singing backup and playing all the ‘party animals.’

Cody, Cassidy and I had a ball working together and it’s great fun for me as a parent to watch them grow and mature artistically. I’m just praying these CDs will find their way into millions of homes as I really believe there is such a need for fun, artistic, entertaining yet spiritually uplifting material for children.

Please let me know what you think after you have heard them and again, thank you all for all your love, friendship and support…Uh-Oh gotta go—I’m needed on the set!!

Love,

Kathie Lee
