| Kids Beating Cancer, Inc.
KBC was created by a Florida mother, inspired by the love and courage of her young son, John, who died in 1992 at the age of 9 after 2 bone marrow transplants. In keeping a promise to her son, KBC was formed.
This letter was received recently describing the origins of Kids Beating Cancer, Inc.
"Kids Beating Cancer, a non-profit foundation, was formed in honor of John, who died at the age of 9 years. John suffered through 2 bone marrow transplants in 4 years. He fought very hard and long. John's littlebrother was his matched donor.
Every year there is a Christmas party at Disney and all the cancer kids come. The sicker the child the more he gets. At the end of the party we have a tree lighting and all the kids light a candle and the top candle is lit for John. John's mother (the creator of Kids Beating Cancer) calls this part "For the love of John", it is to honor all the children who are no longer with us. It is very moving and we all cry but it denotes what the foundation is about, helping children and families.
John's mother works very hard trying to raise money and does lots of bone marrow drives and lots of hospital visits. She talks to families and does so many things too numerous to write about."

KIDS BEATING CANCER, INC. (KBC) is a non-profit 501 (c) 3 organization and a registered charity with the State of Florida. KBC provides support to Central Florida Children with cancer, leukemia and related diseases, and sees that those children whose survival depends on receiving a bone marrow transplant and finding a compatible marrow donor, have the maximum opportunity for a cure.
KBC is the original and only authorized Recruitment Group in Central Florida for the National Marrow Donor Program. Check out how simple and safe it is to register as a volunteer marrow donor and donate a small amount of your marrow if ever matched with a patient in need.
