The following description of Huggz from Heaven was submitted by a site visitor and was one of many heartfelt and moving nominations for this organization we received.

"I would like to nominate the following charity: Huggz from Heaven located in Alabama.

I believe this charity should be nominated for Charity of the Month because it was started by a gal in Alabama. Her name is Sierra Passmore & she began this charity in memory of 3 babies she lost & her cousin Katherine, killed by a drunk driver. She collects bears from many that come from bereaved parents who have lost their children, and all who wish to donate to this wonderful cause. She distributes these bears twice a year at Christmas & Easter time to Children's Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama. These bears go to the sick children in memory of our children so these children will also have a Christmas despite being sick. Sierra is a wonderful person who has started this charity out of the love for her children who died before birth but also for all of us bereaved parents who lost our children much too early, as we are NOT suppose to outlive our children.

We have donated dozens of bears in Memory of our daughter, Jessica, killed by a distracted driver going through a red light talking on a cell phone. This charity is a wonderful way to remember Jessica as she loved giving when she was alive & with us."

"Huggz From Heaven was started in 2000 just before Christmas. We collect stuffed animals to pass out to local sheriffs departments and we also go to our local Childrens Hospital to go room to room and pass out stuffed animals to the sick children. Huggz is located in Alabama. Most stuffed animals are donated in memory of a child or loved one who has gone on to Heaven. Each bear is carefully tagged "in memory of" if donated in memory of someone. We have reached out and helped hundreds of kids this way and want to spread the word to help even more. This is also a great way for a parent who has lost a child to help keep the memory of that child alive. Please help us spread the word and touch the hearts of even more children."
