The Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation identifies and supports extraordinary young scientists across the nation who are committed to discovering the causes and cures for cancer. By investing in brilliance, we will find the answers.
WHAT MAKES US UNIQUE?
100% TO CANCER RESEARCH: The Foundations low administrative costs are supported by its Broadway Tickets service and income from its endowment. 100% of every direct donation supports our scientific programs.
IDENTIFICATION OF FUTURE LEADERS IN CANCER RESEARCH: The Foundation has a demonstrated record of identifying those young investigators who will go on to make an impact in the field of cancer research. By selecting and supporting exemplary young scientists early in their careers, the Foundation has enabled over 3,000 of the nations most talented scientists to focus on understanding and eradicating cancer. Eleven scientists funded by the Foundation have received the Nobel Prize.
55-YEAR TRADITION OF EXCELLENCE: Since its founding in 1946, the Foundation has become the leading organization dedicated to providing critical early support for the most promising young cancer investigators across the country. Its reputation in the scientific community is second to none.
DIVERSIFIED PORTFOLIO: The Foundation supports scientists working on all forms of cancer. Our investigators focus on issues relevant to specific cancers or implicated in multiple forms of the disease (such as tumor metastases). Every significant area of cancer researchgenetics, cellular biology, immunology, virology, etc.has current or past awardees of the Foundation bringing their talent and creativity to bear.
INNOVATIVE PROGRAMS: The Foundation is dedicated to eliminating any barrier to finding cures for cancer. As recently as 2000, the Foundation established its Clinical Investigator Award program in partnership with Eli Lilly & Company to address the national shortage of clinical investigators available to translate scientific breakthroughs into new patient treatments. The Foundation is able to act quickly and effectively to create urgently needed programs to enable and expedite discovery.
BROADWAY TICKETS: For over 50 years, the Foundation has partnered with Broadway theaters to support its important mission. Our service offers the unique opportunity to enjoy the best shows on Broadway while supporting cancer research at the same time.
