Our Mission
Dreams of Hope is dedicated to providing individuals living with a terminal illness, the opportunity to fulfill a desire, a wish with joy, dignity, and respect by interacting, in some way, with someone in life special to them. Dreams of Hope is a unique program, facilitating specific wish granting for individuals eighteen years and older diagnosed with terminal illness. Dreams of Hope supports health-care organizations, communities, and families in the State of of New Jersey, whose philosophy is that individuals should live and die with dignity and compassion.
A Message From Dennie
A grey misty fog filled the air all around me. Above a sparkling river a dark brown wooden bridge provided a pathway unfamiliar to me. As I looked across the way I recognized a woman I had loved my entire life. She was standing at the center of the bridge with her arms outstretched giving me no indication to continue forward or to stay. It was grandmother Cody. My mother’s mom who had passed away two years ago when I was twenty-two. Grandmom wore the printed dress in which she often traveled. A white veil with diamond chips sewn all throughout covered her delicate, bluish-grey hair. Still I could recognize her radiant beauty and magnificent smile. I was at peace, truly at peace.
Yet this was not my exit to the world, but the beginning of the path I follow. Many would consider a fatal car accident an unfortunate event. The one I experienced over thirteen years ago nearly took my physical being, while strengthening my spiritual purpose for being on this earth. Through this incident, as well as what my brother Kevin and Rosie O’Donnell have recently taught me, I learned the true meaning of Hope and the Love of Family. These are just two of the small miracles that ultimately inspired Dreams of Hope. My brother continually motivates me in the creation of this necessary service here in this world. He has reinforced my belief that death is not the final stage, but the next step to eternal love. Dreams of Hope will support the spiritual energy of every human being here on earth.After reviewing the entire package, I hope the Love and Kindness we share with family and friends will drive you to assist other’s through Dreams of Hope. You can help in various ways by spreading the word to make our community aware that this program exists. Contributions will enable this program to continually generate many dreams of hope for those suffering with their terminal condition. |
